METCO Bus Monitor
Start Date: 8/29/2024 (may be one day of training before students return)
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Compensation: $105.20 per day
Position Summary:
The role of the Lincoln METCO Bus Monitor is to collaborate with the bus driver and METCO staff to assume the responsibility for the safety of students from Lincoln Public Schools to Boston. Reports to the METCO Director & AIDE Coordinator.
Note: This position may be combined with other Lincoln School positions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Take attendance
- Ensure that students enter and exit the school bus safely
- Remind students to abide by expectations (remain seated, respect other riders, use appropriate language and maintain safe bodies)
- Communicate bus delays to the METCO Director & AIDE Coordinator in a timely manner
- Communicate with students, caregivers, and school staff in a professional and courteous manner at all times
- Complete bus conduct reports in a timely manner and submits to the METCO Director & AIDE Coordinator
- Follow assigned seating plans for students
- Work with the METCO Director & AIDE Coordinator to re-assign seats as needed
- Answer calls from parents and district staff using school-provided cell phone regarding delays on arrivals and departures times. (The Director may send text messages throughout the day with updated bus information for students)
- Distribute flyers and announcements directly to parents at the request of the METCO Director & AIDE Coordinator and/or the METCO Academic & Enrichment Specialist
- Report all concerns, including student behavior directly to the METCO Director & AIDE Coordinator and Principals by using established reporting protocol
- Possess a positive attitude and willingness to work well as a member of the team
- Remain on the bus until all students are off the bus
- Responsible for actively participating in meetings and trainings regarding students’ needs and safety
- Perform any and/all other duties as assigned by the METCO Director & AIDE Coordinator, METCO Academic & Enrichment Specialist, and/or Principals
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work closely and cooperatively with driver(s) and METCO staff to ensure a safe and comfortable for students
- Knowledge and use of Gmail, chrome software as a communication and reporting tool
- Ability to relate to and work with elementary and middle school-age children
Position will require a specific training plan prior to starting and will be compensated.
