Special Education Tutor - there are two open positions at the Hanscom K-4 school - the first position has an immediate start date, the other has an anticipated start date 11/27/2024 - both positions will work 30 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8am - 2:50pm (30 minute unpaid break); Wednesday 8am - 12:35pm. Hourly rate $26.08 - benefits and Middlesex County Retirement system eligible. Recognized as positions in the Education Support Professional (ESP) unit.
Applicants selected will be subject to security background investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility and suitability requirements.
This position reports to the Coordinator of Special Education and is under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
Job Summary
The Special Education Tutor provides direct services to individuals and small groups of students both in the regular classroom and in special education settings.
Contractual Relationship
The Special Education Tutor is employed by the district through yearly appointments and is compensated in accordance with hourly rates established by the School Committee.
Organizational Relationship
The Special Education Tutor reports to the Coordinator of Special Education and Pupil Services and the special education liaison as assigned.
Responsibilities
1. Provides direct support to individuals and small groups of students based on Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
2. Prepares instruction materials according to teacher guidelines.
3. Monitors student progress, records performance data and communicates such to special education liaison.
4 . Under the direction of the classroom teacher or special education liaison, modifies and adapts instruction according to a student’s IEP.
5. Promotes appropriate social interaction and behavioral compliance for students.
6. Performs other tasks assigned by the Coordinator of Special Education and Pupil Services and the special education liaison.
